Stop! - Hitting The Fat And Thin Shots -
Forever!

Sometimes fat and thin shots seem like night and day, but in reality, most people commit the same faults that cause this problem.

The most common causes of fat and thin shots are abrupt changes in spine angle, early wrist release, and trying to hit the ball with your weight on your right side.

Placing the ball back in the stance is a temporary solution, but is not the proper solution. Unless you are hitting pitch or chip shots, the contact point should not be so close to your right foot (for right handed golfers).

The ball should always be in the middle of your stance to inside your left foot from wedge to driver. However, even while putting the ball back in your stance, if you release the wrist and lose the lag too early, you can still hit way behind the ball. If you try to hit up on the ball, you will top it or hit it thin no matter where you place the ball as well.

Keeping the lower body quiet is one of the keys to hitting the ball solid and consistently. If you can learn how to take most of the lateral movement out of your swing you will be well on the way to eliminating your fat and thin shots.

I can show you how to hit the ball with rotation rather than swaying and sliding. Weight transfer, and the cocking and uncocking of the wrists are results of a proper swing, not the main focus of what to do.

Too many golfers focus on positions and results in the golf swing. If you don't have a good understanding of what the golf swing is, how can you execute it properly?

I have clearly defined the swing for you in "The True Golf Swing", and have laid out how to execute it.
